I was desolate. The Trees seemed to grow with the roots above and the branches below. Think of it as Alice in Wonderland. Only try to imagine being in a place like that alone. Lost, having no sense of direction.
I had no clue where I was or how I got there. All I could see, almost feel, was shadows moving around me. “Is this Hell?” I whispered to myself. I began to shiver, even though it was quite warm.
I began to cry. I don’t know why, but I was overcome with overwhelming sadness. Why was this happening? I began to see the shadows surround me. All I could hear was their overpowering demonic laughs. Before I knew what was happening the world before me seemed to melt.
I regained consciousness, lying there on the ground. Through my still blurred vision, I saw a man with his hands on my chest. I sat up seeing my wife come to me with her arms open wide and tears on her face. “Thank you God, thank you!” she kept saying over and over.
Even under the situation I had only one thought on my mind. I had died. I had been to a dark place. All my happiness had been drained from me. “Give him some space.” The man who had his hands on my chest said. My wife backed away and I was put on a stretcher.
I kept repeating in my head, “Was that Hell?” I blacked out again. I opened my eyes and for a moment was almost blinded. All I could see for miles and miles was pure white. “God has smiled upon you today.” A voice said to me. I searched for the source of the voice, but all I saw was white. “What happened to me?” I asked the voice. “Someone decided to give you a second chance. The question is what are you going to do with it?” Was all the voice replied.
I woke up. I was in the hospital. For some reason the pain had gone. I looked at my surroundings. I saw my wife asleep on a chair beside me. I looked away and stared at the ceiling. It was night and I didn’t want to wake my wife. “A second chance.” I said under my breath. I looked over to my awakening wife and smiled.
